CityJet's Cork – LCY service
London City Airport (LCY) has welcomed the start of services from Cork by Cityjet. The airline is operating 18 flights a week, including one on Saturdays and two on Sundays.
Pat Byrne, Executive Chairman of CityJet, said the airline was "confident and excited" about the new route, with early bookings indicating passengers saw "real value" in flying into an accessible airport with fast turnround times and good transport links in London.
Frankfurt starts work on T3
Construction work on the new Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) has officially begun with a ground-breaking ceremony attended by more than 400 staff.

Perish the thought that BTN should be seen to be political, but Europe has been at it again, this time with a ruling from the Court of Justice.
BA says goodbye Seven Three
It was an occasion when the Seekers’ 1965 hit The Carnival is Over could appropriately have been played again. On 30 September, just two weeks ago, British Airways operated a scheduled passenger service using a Boeing 737 for the last time, flying from Gatwick to and from Turin. Aviation enthusiast and self-confessed ‘eccentric globetrotter’ Michael Bartlett reports.

Redbridge and London City Airport
The marginally Labour-controlled Redbridge Borough Council has released a statement supporting the Mayor of London’s refusal to grant permission for the development of London City Airport. It has somewhat missed the boat in that an increase in flight numbers has already been approved, the problem being that the current Mayor, Boris Johnson, has refused permission for the building work to accommodate the expansion. The airport’s appeal has been set for next March.
TAG’s Boeing 757-200

Violence at Air France talks

Cathay moves into Madrid
A four-times-weekly service between Hong Kong and Madrid is being launched by Cathay Pacific next June in a further expansion of its European network. It will be the only direct link between the two cities, both important business and financial centres.
Flybe in E195 deal
Travellers in south-west England and East Anglia have been promised better connections with the rest of the world after Flybe signed a five-year deal with the Regional and City Airports group for an Embraer 195 twinjet to serve Exeter and Norwich from next March.
New SWISS flagship sets date
The new flagship of the SWISS fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER long-haul twinjet, is to enter revenue service over the 2015/16 winter schedules, operating between Zurich and New York.

Vueling checks in at Liverpool
Spanish airline Vueling, part of the International Airlines Group (IAG) that includes British Airways, is introducing a three-times-weekly scheduled service from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) to its base in Barcelona from next March.
