Qatar's Sydney launch date

Much-anticipated daily direct services by Qatar Airways between Doha and Sydney will begin on 1 March.

Sydney becomes the third Australian city to join the airline’s network after Melbourne and Perth, which are served daily nonstop with a total of 14 services each week.

The airline said evening departures in both directions on the new service would provide convenient travel times for passengers, and enhance connectivity to top business destinations across its ‘ever-expanding’ sphere of influence. Flights will be operated by Boeing 777-300.

Passengers in Business Class will have access to fully-flat beds with 78in seat pitch plus an on-demand à la carte menu service allowing them to order food at any time during the flight. Qatar also has the Oryx One entertainment system, which offers more than 2,000 options, on individual screens in all classes.

The airline says passengers can also look forward to a ‘convenient and seamless’ one-stop transfer at its home base at Hamad International Airport.

The airport houses what is said to be one of the world’s largest and most luxurious Business Class lounges, the Al Mourjan lounge, along with more than 40,000 sq m of retail space and restaurants,  www.qatarairways.com
