Andrew Harrison, formerly Chief Operation Officer for M.A.G, is the new Stansted Managing Director following the completion of its purchase on 28 February (see BTN 4 March). Nick Barton, who formerly held the Stansted post has now joined Aberdeen, owned by a company now called Heathrow Airport (Holdings) Ltd, as interim Managing Director.
Andrew Cowan has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Manchester Airport.
As noted in last week’s issue a realignment of the passenger areas is planned to start shortly at Stansted. More retail space in the departure lounge will be created by reducing the ‘landside’ check-in area, realigning the security search area, speeding up the security process and creating more space to shop and relax. M.A.G also plans to develop different car park choices, such as Meet and Greet and low-cost options, and making the airport easier to get to whether coming by train, public transport, or by road.
The terminal re-development plans and car parking ideas are similar to that achieved successfully by M.A.G at its other airports. www.stanstedairport.com
