Wizz Air

Over the coming weeks Luton Airport is to be reconnected by Wizz to Corfu, Heraklion, Rhodes, Zakynthos (Greece), Faro (Portugal) and Marrakesh (Morocco). See last week’s issue for other destinations already served.

The airline says that overall current load facts are in line with expectations, load factors on last week’s flights were on average well above 50% (on some above 80%).

A statement read: “We are not limiting capacity, however in the initial ramp up period we expect lower load factors than usual (last year we had 94% load factors on average) so there is no need to limit the capacity. Our seating algorithm has been changed so it seats people further away from each other in line with physical distancing suggestions, however if load factor and the weight and balance of the aircraft allow, cabin crew will be able to reseat passengers to further help people sitting away from each other.”

In another development Wizz announced five new routes from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). The routes will connect the capital of United Arab Emirates with Budapest and Bucharest from June and with Cluj-Napoca, Katowice and Sofia from September, subject to aviation activities being resumed in the respective countries. Wizz Air becomes the first European low-cost carrier to launch flights to Abu Dhabi.
