Wizz at Luton

A spokeswoman for Wizz Air said the load factor on the services yesterday were on average well above 50 per cent and as high as 80 per cent on certain destinations.

For the restart of Luton flights, Wizz Air is implementing new protocols – in line with government regulations – to support physical distancing during boarding and enhanced cleanliness on board.

As part of the measures to protect the health of customers and crew, customers should check-in and make any purchases online, such as paying for additional bags, to reduce non-essential interaction at the airport.

Throughout the flight, cabin crew will be required to wear masks and gloves and will distribute sanitising wipes to each passenger. On-board purchases are encouraged to be made by contactless payment, to minimise physical contact.

The following services are not more than a guideline and a visit to the Wizz website will give more details.

Anyone who has travelled on Wizz will know that 'they pack you in', the legroom is minimal and you get off a flight in Sofia, Bucharest or wherever with virtually no feeling in your legs! So I'd be interested to know how they are complying with social distancing guidelines and managing to have load factors as high as 80%? And with your article elsewhere in this issue talking about quarantining arrivals in this country, another question is to ask what checks if any are being done on the incoming passengers (same goes for Heathrow where the number of incoming flights from China seems to be at the same level as it was pre-pandemic).
