Plans for new uniforms for cabin and flight deck crew plus new in-flight entertainment and a loyalty programme are nearing completion at independent carrier flybmi with a scheduled launch date of January.
The moves are part of a period of "significant strategic change" following the appointment last month of Jochen Schnadt as managing director (BTN 1 October).
The airline this year also rebranded as flybmi – from bmi regional – and launched a new website (BTN 9 July) and says next year it will “continue to evolve to meet the needs of modern UK and European travellers”.
The heart of the website is a new booking engine developed by 2e Systems, which flybmi says enables customers to move easily through the booking flow and pay for their travel with various payment forms and currencies, irrespective of point of origin.
Flybmi operates an all-jet fleet of 20 Embraer E135 and E145 aircraft, employs more than 400 staff and now operates more than 400 scheduled flights a week across a network of 46 destinations in 11 European countries.
It also operates routes as codeshares with Air Dolomiti, Brussels Airlines, Loganair, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines enabling customers to connect to global airline networks.
