Schnadt takes over at flybmi

A “robust restructure and long-term succession plan” for flybmi was announced last week by Airline Investments Ltd (AIL) group CEO Peter Simpson, with current flybmi CCO Jochen Schnadt becoming managing director from 11 October.

Tim Shattock, who joined flybmi as interim managing director earlier this year to assist in the transition process, will now return to his native Dublin to take up a new leadership role.

Simpson said with the appointment of Schnadt, who has been with the company for the past three years, flybmi’s organisational structure will now be adjusted “to better address the key needs of flybmi going forward”.

A key part of this will be the appointment of Malcolm Sutherland, formerly of Virgin Atlantic and the Thomas Cook Group, as flybmi’s new chief operations officer, overseeing all operational functions and reporting to Schnadt.

The new MD will continue to have the directors for sales and business development, revenue and planning, and customer and marketing, Fabrice Binet, Barry Oaten and Antony Price, reporting to him alongside chief financial officer Paul Roberts.

Schnadt said: “I feel privileged to have been asked to take on the MD role and to be able to work with the great team that we have to move things forward to the next level.”
