Since the beginning of air travel, carriers have been quick to create marketing concepts even if they are old ideas refashioned.
The latest is from Scandinavian Airlines who is introducing on 27 April a product called “SAS Go Light” on its European flights, a no hold baggage booking class at a cheaper price than if you make a normal reservation. This of course is nothing new, the only real initiative being the name.
Launched to complement the existing SAS Go and SAS Plus products, SAS Go Light is designed for those customers who want to travel light with only carry-on bags, with fares around £10 lower each way than for SAS Go. The new concept is being introduced following very positive feedback after trials on selected routes from Scandinavia since autumn 2015.
Where SAS does differ from it low-cost competitors is the ability to choose your seat 22 hours before departure, and free tea and coffee on board. Passengers can also pay for access to the SAS lounges. https://www.flysas.com
