The Bangkok-based Akaryn hotel group is launching a new luxury property in the centre of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, in March.
The President by Akaryn sits between the Laotian parliament, presidential palace and temple of the Emerald Buddha. It will have just 30 rooms, including two presidential suites with private butler service and, says the company, is “perfectly situated for business travellers”.
Originally built for the Laotians by the Chinese government, the property will include state-of-the-art business facilities and concierge services, along with a range of fine-dining options and a health centre.
There will also be an exclusive private member's club, with access to a cigar lounge, humidor and whisky cellar that Akaryn says will present one of the finest and largest selection of cigars in Asia. Tutored whisky tastings will be held monthly.
Landscaped gardens are another feature where guests will be able to cool off in the pool, dine under the stars or take in a classical music concert every Sunday. The hotel also provides direct access to Vientiane's Central Park and the Mekong River. www.akarynhotelgroup.com
