Big expansion for Yotel

Plans for 12 new hotels by 2018, including some in the UK, have been announced by high-tech hotel chain Yotel. The company says it is out to grow its bed-stock by more than two and a half times in two years.

The company has four hotels so far, at Gatwick, Heathrow, Schiphol Amsterdam and in New York (see BTN ON TOUR  New York 11 June 2012). Two new airport hotels, at Paris Charles de Gaulle next year and Singapore Changi in 2018, are included in the new plans.

Properties in San Francisco, Boston, Miami, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Singapore and Dubai are currently under development, with new locations in London and Geneva to be announced shortly.

Yotel, which has its headquarters in London and launched in 2007, was the first hotel brand to replace traditional reception desks with self-service airline-style kiosks and an hourly booking system. It features capsule rooms designed along the lines of airlines' First Class cabins.

CEO Hubert Viriot said: “We have grown a loyal customer-base from around the world and we now have big intentions for our brand by looking to grow the number of rooms under management by more than 250% by 2018.”  www.yotel.com
