Hilton Worldwide has signed a franchise agreement to bring its largest Hampton by Hilton branded property to date to Stansted, the UK’s fourth-largest and fastest-growing airport.
The £45m, 357-room hotel will be next to the terminal on a two-acre site and is part of a £260m investment plan by the Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which owns Stansted, to attract more long-haul services and airlines.
Work on the new hotel is due to start this month and the property set to open with direct terminal access in summer 2017. Features will include free wi-fi and hot breakfast.
Claimed to be Europe’s fastest-growing hotel brand, Hampton by Hilton is developing rapidly in greater London with a property in Waterloo and forthcoming ones in Ealing, Croydon and London Docklands. The company has 16 hotels operating in the UK and Ireland, with 17 under development.
Hilton Worldwide senior vice-president Patrick Fitzgibbon said: “Introducing Hampton by Hilton to Stansted is consistent with our strategy of developing properties close enough to airports for guests to access the terminals without a shuttle bus.
“This strategy has proven successful in other locations, including the airports in Gatwick, Exeter and Liverpool, and is integral to our developments in Bristol.” www.hampton.com www.stanstedairport.com
