Birmingham to Antwerp

From its base at Antwerp the Belgium regional airline VLM is to launch a three times weekly, Monday, Wednesday and Friday service to Birmingham on 5 October.

Earlier this year the airline launched flights to Waterford, in the South of Ireland, from both Birmingham and Luton airports.  (see BTN 27 April)

Steve Blair, Chief Operating Officer of VLM Airlines, says: “Adding the Birmingham – Antwerp route to our network is another example of VLM listening to what business and leisure travellers want. There are strong business synergies between these cities for industries including fashion, diamond, automotive and chemicals. We are confident this new route will also be attractive to people looking for a city break and can be used as a gateway to Bruges, Ghent and Brussels, all accessible in under an hour from Antwerp.”

Currently a Fokker F50 operator VLM Airlines also provides ACMI (‘wet lease’) and charter airline services to customers including airlines, tour operators, corporates, government and military organisations.  The airline plans to become Western Europe’s first Sukhoi Superjet 100LR operator with two aircraft due for delivery in 2016.  www.flyvlm.com
