Gatwick to Lima

British Airways is gradually returning to South America, once an important part of the network, and for its predecessor in the region British Caledonian.  The idea that passengers should transfer at Madrid, seems to have been dropped, for the most part non-stop services more popular, unless driven by financial considerations.

The airline will introduce a three-class, three times a week Boeing 777 between Gatwick and Lima from 4 May 2016.  The flights will provide the only direct service between London and the Peruvian capital, a hub for BA's oneworld partner LATAM who will provide onward connections to a host of South and Central America destinations.

Lynne Embleton, BA's Managing Director at Gatwick, said: "It is great to be the only airline to offer direct services between London and Peru. Lima is a fantastic gateway to some of the most dramatic places to visit in South America and will also provide a new link for British business seeking to invest in Peru's growing market."

Peru is an Andean country of vast resources, culture and history.  Its politics are typically South American struggling to come to terms with true democracy.  There is the richness and diversity of the Amazon rainforest, the fabulous cuisine and colourful textiles of Cusco, and the wonder and magnificence of Machu Picchu.  www.ba.com    http://visitperu.com
