Could a visit to the Brandenburg Airport site be on the cards when ERA holds its 2015 General Assembly in Berlin 13-15 October 2015?The keynote address, in conference session 2, is Stefan Pichler, CEO of airberlin, who is bound to mention the airport, a major component in the restructuring of the airline. airberlin remains part of oneworld and is owned 30% by Etihad.
Mr Pichler had summed up the current situation:
“Our industry faces a multitude of different challenges; competition with other similar sized operators, the power of large, consolidated and incumbent airlines from the low-cost and network carrier sector, monopoly air traffic service provider, a poor and expensive ATC infrastructure, congested hubs, rapidly changing technology, the environment, limited investors and a better informed and demanding consumer base.
With such a seemingly endless and exhausting list of challenges facing our industry what can airlines do to not only stay solvent but competitive as well? How can we stay ahead of our competitors and what can service providers, airports, manufacturers and suppliers do to help? What role can ERA play, along with policy makers and regulators, to create an environment that allows innovation and growth and offers consumers a first class transport system in the future?" www.eraa.org/events/era-general-assembly-2015/programme-events
