Chopin Airport extended

Warsaw Chopin Airport opened its 60,000sq m extension timely for the Star Alliance Chief Executives gathering (see last week’s issue).  In fact it was not an extension at all, but the rebuilding of an existing facility, seamlessly connected to the building known as Terminal A.

As with all airports in the 21st century well-known brands such as Michael Kors, Ermenegildo Zegna, Emporio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ralph Lauren and Burberry all have a place.  The complex also has its own toy shop, M&M's candy store and Poland’s only Samsung brand store located at an airport.  Other outlets include a new Aelia Duty Free shop, Victoria's Secret, Le Connaisseur which will offer a wine tasting service.

"Global brands available in our shopping arcade will allow passengers to feel as if they were at the best Paris, London or Milan department stores, which is exactly what our customers expect," enthuses Airport Director, Michał Kaczmarzyk.

"At the airport they have time for relaxed shopping, and we are happy to provide them with that opportunity."

Planned for the future is a high level observation lounge, currently used for operations but due to move to a purpose-built facility in the near future.  The airport is now moving 10m passengers annually and is connected to the city by Metro.   www.lotnisko-chopina.pl/en/index.html
