We have all woken in the morning and wondered just what day of the week is it.
This is particularly so in cruise ships, when the bars never seem to close and the drinks can be much cheaper than on land.
Royal Caribbean has solved this problem by installing floor signs in the lifts on the brand new Anthem of the Seas and the (recently completely refurbished) Explorer of the Seas.
Stagger into the elevator and it is there to see.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc.
It is rumoured that 16 (being the number of public lifts on board) crew members are roistered for midnight in order to change the day simultaneously upon a signal from the Captain!
At least one passenger thought the lift manufacturer was called Monday until the following day when Tuesday stared up at him as he entered the lift!
Next Monday, our monthly cruise edition, will include an introductory review of Anthem of the Seas.

This is not a new idea. My wife and I cruised the Caribbean on RCI's "Enchantment of the Seas" in 2000 and the lifts (elevators)had these mats then.

This is not new. We encountered this during a cruise on the MS Rotterdam (Holland America Line) back in 2013. Very cute :)
