Transatlantic Business Class only

It has not proved successful in the past but La Compagnie, a French operator, plans to introduce New York Newark to London business class flights in the spring.  It has been operating a similar service from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Newark since July 2014.  The company says it will announce its choice of airports shortly and bookings will open at that time.

Failures in this market in recent years have included Eos, Maxjet and Silverjet. French operator L’Avion was sold to British Airways' subsidiary, Open Skies, which still operates from Paris Orly to New York Kennedy, but as a two-class service.  London City to JFK via Shannon, a British Airways Airbus A318 operation, continues but clearly as more of a flag waving exercise.  (See BTN 10 November 2012)

Behind La Compagnie as CEO is Frantz Yvelin, the founder of L’Avion.

“Unveiling a second route merely a few months after La Compagnie’s inaugural flight was something of a wild bet and we’re very excited to go through with it as it sets a new standard for Business Class travel beyond our current New York – Paris route,” he said.   www.lacompagnie.com
