Portland USA from the UK

Celebrating 70 years of flying into the United Kingdom, Icelandair will launch direct flights from Birmingham on 5 February connecting to 14 onward destinations in America and Canada.  These will operate on a Monday and Thursday.

New for 2015 is Portland (Oregon), a half million population city, just under 200 miles south of Seattle.  Portland is home to a large number of independent microbreweries, microdistilleries and food carts that contribute to the unofficial slogan "Keep Portland Weird".

Icelandair’s Portland gateway Oregon, opens 19 May 2015 and the services will be will be twice weekly departing from Reykjavik on Tuesday and Thursday at 17:15 (GMT) arriving into Portland at 18:15 local.

Services from most UK airports connect into these Portland flights.  Currently Icelandair flies from Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Manchester (and Birmingham next year) to Reykjavik connecting to Anchorage, Boston, Denver, Edmonton, Halifax, Minneapolis, New York (JFK and Newark), Orlando, Toronto, Seattle, Vancouver and Washington DC.

Icelandair offers the chance to stop over for up to seven days in Iceland for no additional airfare and if UK passengers stop over on the outbound flight they benefit from an APD tax saving of approximately £55 per adult.  www.icelandair.co.uk
