Craig Kreeger – airline poet laureate

Delivered to Aviation Club members and their guests at the IOD last week.

Everyone was worried how Santa’s OTP report would go

The aircraft were circling in holding patterns with care

In hopes that St Nick  had a clear path through the air

On the planes children were nestled snug in their flatbeds

Now APD free, they dream in their heads;

Mother and father with champagne toast the nation

With hopes the delay means EC261 compensation

At the Davies Commission they were having a natter,

Would a third runway for Santa have helped in this matter?

When what were my wondering eyes drawn to,

Out of the window a 787 and eight tiny crew

With a jolly old captain, dressed so lovely in red

I knew in a moment this was a fuel-efficient sled

With rapid and brilliant service they came,

And he whistled, and shouted and called them by name:

“Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen!

To Willie, O’Leary, McCall and Branson!

To the far flung parts of the world, have a ball!

Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!

So I leave you with final seasonal cheer,

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
