Following quickly upon its recent announcement of flights into Birmingham (see BTN 17 November) American Airlines is again to take rival United Airlines on with a new daily service from Edinburgh to New York Kennedy (JFK) next summer running from May until September.
United (an amalgamation of United and Continental airlines) has served Edinburgh from New York Newark twice daily, year round, for some years.
American says it will offer more onward destinations throughout North America than its rival. The airline will also codeshare with British Airways. American Airlines will be operating Boeing 757-200s which come equipped with 16 lie-flat premium cabin seats.
Rouge, part of Air Canada, and United, after a hugely successful summer season in 2014, are both returning to the Scottish capital for next summer with direct services to Toronto and Chicago. www.aa.com http://www.aircanada.com/rouge/en
