Lufthansa Premium Economy

From 22 November Premium Economy will be available on all 747-8 routes (Bangalore, Buenos Aires, Chicago, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Peking, São Paolo, Seoul, Tokyo-Haneda and Washington DC) somewhat earlier than planned. (See BTN 15 September)

Features include a cleverly thought out seat developed by German company ZIM and a doubling of the free baggage allowance to two 23kg bags.  For a fee of €25 passengers in the new class can access and relax in comfort in Lufthansa Business lounges prior to take-off.  Once on board they will be greeted with a welcome drink and presented with an upmarket amenity kit.  All the seats have a power socket.  Meals will be served on china tableware.  Available is an extensive inflight entertainment programme for passengers to view on a 12” tilting monitor fitted on the backrest of the seat in front.

Passengers can even upgrade last-minute to available Premium Economy seats at check-in at the airport.

The entire Lufthansa long haul fleet is to be equipped with Premium Economy by late summer 2015.  Following its installation on the B747-8 fleet, the new class will be fitted on the airline’s Airbus A380s. www.lufthansa.com
