London to Jakarta

On 8 September Garuda Indonesia will introduce a three times a week direct service from Gatwick to Jakarta via Amsterdam using a new Boeing 777-300ER.  The new route is part of the airline’s strategic international network expansion programme offering customers the fastest and only direct connection between Europe and Indonesia.

The Amsterdam – Jakarta operation, five times weekly, was introduced in May (See BTN 2 June).

Emirsyah Satar, President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia, said: “The opening of the London – Jakarta service will support economic activities between Indonesia and the UK, in light of the growing trade transaction between the countries each year.  As we all know, in 2015, the government aims to reach a total trade value of US$7bn between the two countries, an equivalent of £4.16bn.”

Garuda’s new fleet of Boeing 777s operate in a three-class configuration, eight seats in First Class, 38 in Business, and 268 in Economy.  All the aircraft are equipped with in-flight connectivity and live TV for every passenger, as well as an on board chef for those in First Class.  www.garudaindonesia.co.uk
