A traveller leaving Turkey on 20 August 2014 for example should hold a passport that is valid until at least 20 October 2014.
As from 1 January 2015 passports must be valid for at least 60 days from the date of expiry of a traveller's visa, visa exemption period or residency permit to be able to enter the country. For example, a traveller with a visa expiry date of 20 May 2015 must hold a passport that is valid until at least 20 July 2015.
British nationals need a visa to enter Turkey, except for cruise ship passengers with ‘British Citizen’ passports entering the country for a day trip, remaining in the port of embarkation and returning to the ship the same day.
You can get an e-visa online before you travel through the official e-visa website. An e-visa costs US$20 and you can pay using a credit or debit card. www.turkishconsulate.org.uk
