Now fully open after a ‘soft’ beginning is the Intercontinental Westminster, only the second Intercontinental in the UK capital. In fact it is something of a misnomer directly situated on The Broadway, opposite St James Park Underground and close by Scotland Yard. It is more in Victoria than Westminster but nevertheless only a short walk from the mother of Parliaments.
Formerly a government building, Queen Anne’s Chambers, the hotel represents a major investment worth £150m and features 256 rooms, including 44 suites. Somewhat misnamed, the Blue Boar Smokehouse and Bar is proving popular on the ground floor and is already a local attraction.
There is a Club InterContinental Executive Lounge, eight meeting and event rooms and a 24-hour gym for exclusive guest use. www.ihg.com
