TTG buyout

Travel Trade Gazette has been purchased by its current Editor Daniel Pearce from the UBM Plc publishing conglomerate.  TTG, as it is widely known, was launched in 1953 by Leslie Stone and Ted Kirkham and is the world's oldest travel trade newspaper.

Many top rate journalists cut their teeth with the weekly publication, firstly in Woolwich and in more recent times in the City of London with New Zealander Dominic O’Connell, now Business Editor at the Sunday Times, perhaps the best known.

TTG features news, destination reports and careers advice for the travel and tourism industries.  Sectors covered include travel agents, tour operators, airlines, cruise companies, hotels, tourist boards, rail travel, ferry lines, business travel and web-based operators. It is very trade orientated.

For many years (and still today) TTG competed with the former Reed Elsevier publication Travel Weekly which dates from 1969 (although a US title goes back to 1956).  Travel Weekly is now owned by Clive Jacobs who founded the Holiday Autos Group which he eventually sold to Lastminute.com for £43m.  www.ttgdigital.com
