The iconic Loews Regency Hotel on New York’s Park Avenue (61st Street) and its renowned signature restaurant will re-open on 16 January 2014 following a major US$92m renovation. Bookings can now be made.
The historic property will reveal a contemporary design, 379 newly refurbished guest rooms including 54 premier suites, an innovative and stylish new bar, new private meeting spaces including four executive boardrooms, a 24hr 1,700sq ft fitness facility with state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strengthening equipment, and a new salon and anti-ageing spa. The hotel’s revitalised signature restaurant will also re-open, renowned in New York as the birthplace of the world-famous 'Power Breakfast' and a regular dining spot for the city’s political and business leaders.
The breakfast’s history dates back to the 1970s when US political and business leaders held meetings in the hotel’s restaurant over breakfast to tackle financial woes at the invitation of Loews’ Co-CEO Bob Tisch – and so the term 'Power Breakfast' was first coined inside the hotel. Currently served in a nearby, up-market restaurant until the re-launch, the breakfast, considered the best in town, will feature old favourites and American breakfast classics, using the best fresh and locally sourced ingredients with distinctive New York flavours. www.loewshotels.com
