Marriot has opened a Renaissance hotel in Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city. Once known as Smyrna, it sits in the gulf of the same name leading to the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. With a 4m population it is fast developing as a tourist and conference centre.
“We are thrilled to grow our portfolio in Turkey to 10 hotels with this unique property as well as introduce the Renaissance Hotels brand to Izmir”, said Amy McPherson, President and Managing Director for Marriott International in Europe.
The 110-room property is just yards from the ‘Kordon’ famous sea front promenade with its unique atmosphere and many restaurants and cafes. There is a gym, spa and plunge pool on site. 2,130sq ft of meeting space is available. www.marriott.com
