Brooklands Aviation Day

Saturday 28 September has been designated ‘Aviation Day’ at the Brooklands Museum.  Already confirmed are aero engine runs, model flying displays, children’s activities and a number of visiting aircraft, the former runway on the airfield is being specially opened for the day.

On site will be many clubs and organisations including: Air Search, British Women’s Pilots Association, Coventry University, RAF Changi Association and Vulcan to the Sky.  There will be plenty of activities for the youngsters including rocket and windsock making and rides in pedal-driven model aeroplanes from ‘Joystick’.

Over on the airstrip opposite the main visitor entrance will be two fly-ins from Phoenix Helicopters at around 11:00.  After they land, spectators will be able to go and chat to the crews and inspect the helicopters.  Back over on the Museum site the Museum’s own Sopwith Camel and the replica monoplane will run their engines outside the Wellington Hangar.

The finale comes as homage to Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines as we welcome an incredible vintage aircraft flying display from a Gypsy Moth and Tiger Moth at around 15:00.  And if aeroplanes are not for you there are buses, cars and bikes, motorised and human driven, to see too.  Gates open at 10:00 – normal Museum entry charges apply. www.brooklandsmuseum.com
