The only fully nationalised airline in the British Isles, Aurigny of Guernsey, has a new CEO, Mark Darby. It is owned by the government of the island, which includes the islands of Alderney, Herm and Sark, called the States.
“Mark took on the role of interim CEO in April and, during that time, has worked closely with the States in formulating a plan to protect the islands' links to London Gatwick following the withdrawal of Flybe in March next year. We are pleased that he will now be able to see his work come to fruition with the delivery of our new Embraer 195 in June next year”, said Chairman of the Aurigny board, Jon Moulton.
Mr Darby was previously a Non-Executive Director on the Aurigny Group board and is an expert in airline business recovery and transformation, specialising in regional airlines. Having started in the industry 30 years ago as an aircraft planning engineer for Freddie Laker, he later went on to work as a specialist airline management consultant and CEO of regional airlines in the Caribbean and Switzerland.
