TAROM has realised the possibilities of much extra two-way traffic between the UK and Romania when EU passport barriers between the two countries come down on 1 January.
easyJet in the summer announced the introduction of service from Gatwick to Bucharest on 17 October and now the national airline, and a member of Sky Team, has announced a twice weekly operation from Luton to Iasi starting less than one week later on Tuesday 29 October. A 134-seat Boeing 737-300 operating in a two-class configuration will be used for the flights.
Iași is one of the largest cities and municipalities in Romania. It has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Romanian social, cultural, academic and artistic life. It is 250 miles from Bucharest and close by the Moldavian border.
Luton Airport Managing Director, Glyn Jones, said: “We are delighted that TAROM will shortly commence services. With convenient flight times, quality onboard service and competitive fares we are sure the Iasi flights with TAROM will be a great success”.
TAROM also has a twice daily service from Bucharest to Heathrow T1, where it competes with British Airways. www.tarom.ro/en
