Norwegian expansion continues

Based in a country with a population of just five million, and not part of the EU, Norwegian (officially Norwegian Air Shuttle) is continuing with its astonishing expansion.

Norwegian is to launch new routes between Scandinavia and Los Angeles, Oakland-San Francisco (the city’s second airport and across the bay) and Orlando in spring 2014.  Boeing 787 Dreamliners will be used on all the routes.

No other airlines offer non-stop flights from Oslo to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orlando; from Stockholm to Los Angeles and San Francisco or from Copenhagen to Los Angeles.

Norwegian currently operates six weekly flights between Scandinavia and New York as well as five weekly flights between Scandinavia and Bangkok.  In November, the airline will commence flights from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen to Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Norwegian’s first long haul flights took place in May this year.

“So far the response to our New York, Bangkok and Fort Lauderdale routes has been tremendous.  Most of our flights have been fully booked over the summer.  Our offer has not only been well received by Scandinavian passengers travelling to the US or Asia, but also Asians and Americans going to Scandinavia and beyond”, said Norwegian’s CEO, Bjørn Kjos.

Norwegian has six two-class Dreamliners on order of which two have been delivered. www.norwegian.com
