Emirates has started a daily non-stop service from Dubai to Stockholm.
A Boeing 777-200LR aircraft will operate the route with eight luxurious private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class, and for 216 customers in Economy Class. Flight time is 6hrs 30mins.
When it comes to Northern Europe Emirates is not as well connected as it is in the warmer areas and this must be seen as part of a rolling strategy. The UAE carrier already has non-stop flights from its Dubai hub to Moscow and St Petersburg (Russia), Warsaw (Poland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Amsterdam (Holland) and Hamburg (northern Germany). Oslo is obviously missing as is Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania but it remains to be seen if they can sustain even a part week service. Emirates see Dubai as a hub for the Middle East, the Far East, Australasia and Africa.
Customers on Emirates’ flights enjoy extra baggage allowance – 30kg Economy Class, 40kg Business Class and 50kg First Class. www.emirates.com
