Luton Airport charity

Passengers at Luton Airport this summer will have the opportunity to learn more about the work carried out by its charity partner Sue Ryder with a new exhibition on display in the airport’s Gateway Gallery.  The exhibition forms part of the airport’s commitment to support a nominated charity partner through its new Community Engagement Strategy.

Established in 1953 by the wartime Special Operations Executive and charity worker Sue Ryder (Baroness Ryder of Warsaw) it provides specialist medical care and emotional support to 16,400 people living with incurable illness every year.  Funds raised from the partnership will go towards supporting Sue Ryder’s specialist care centres – Stagenhoe in Hertfordshire and St John’s Hospice in Bedfordshire.

Since partnering with Sue Ryder in 2012 the airport has raised over £80,000.  Funds have been gained through a variety of events and initiatives including this September a charity cycle ride from the Control Tower at Luton Airport to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The Gallery, delivered in partnership with Luton Culture, is located in the main terminal building adjacent to the Onward Travel Centre.  Sue Ryder’s exhibition will be on display until October. www.london-luton.co.uk
