All party aviation group statement

Brian Donohoe MP, Chairman All Party Parliamentary Group for Aviation (APPGA) has published today (Monday 19 August) its report into Air Passenger Duty and UK Aviation Policy.

Mr Donohoe is specific about Northolt: “I welcome the comprehensive nature and quality of the submissions to the Davies Commission on airport capacity.  Sir Howard and his Commission are to be congratulated on their progress.

I note that some of the runway options proposed by APPGA have been recognised in the submissions.

I am particularly pleased that our proposal for use of Northolt has been recognised.  Making best use of its existing runway, already significantly longer than that at London City Airport, for operation by regional jets and turboprops by substituting the existing 7,000 business aviation movements at Northolt for twice daily services to UK regional routes to Prestwick, Inverness, Dundee, Carlisle, Newquay, Liverpool, Teesside, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Humberside is the only short term opportunity to provide access to the UK's Heathrow hub, together with the improved connectivity and provide increased economic development opportunities for those hitherto neglected regions”.  THE FULL REPORT WILL BE ON MR DONOHOE'S WEB SITE NEXT WEEK  www.briandonohoemp.co.uk
