Currently up for sale by owner Air France, CityJet is to drop its four times daily London City (LCY) to Edinburgh service losing a battle with British Airways who competed on the route with eight return flights.
With the demise of bmi the London to Edinburgh market is now dominated by BA with the exception of Virgin Little Red with four services a day from Heathrow (See BTN 22 July) and easyJet’s routings from Gatwick, Luton, Southend and Stansted.
CityJet will continue with existing flights from LCY to Dundee and from Edinburgh to Paris Charles de Gaulle.
The much delayed disposal of the airline is still “under discussion” and for the winter season the airline will operate as AF although it does have its own two letter code WX.
No decision has been made on the use of the aircraft involved with the Edinburgh service, nor the London City slots. www.cityjet.com
