EMA loss and Stockholm gain

bmi regional is to withdraw its East Midlands (EMA) to Frankfurt (FRA) service.

CEO, Cathal O’Connel, said: “After careful review of our route network, including performance of individual routes, we have taken the decision to withdraw services between East Midlands and Frankfurt, effective as of September 2nd 2013.

“We remain committed to the German market and will continue to operate direct flights from Bristol to Hamburg, Hannover, Frankfurt and Munich, as well as the Toulouse to Bremen service.

“The last scheduled flights on the East Midlands to Frankfurt service will be on 1st September 2013.  We will be contacting all passengers with reservations on the discontinued flights after this time to offer them alternative routing”.

In a positive move the airline has signed a 10-month deal to operate services in Sweden between Kristianstad and Stockholm Arlanda on behalf of Flyglinjen.  Introduced last week with what is known as a ‘wet lease’ (pilots, cabin crew and support) bmi regional is supplying a 49-seat Embraer ERJ-145. www.bmiregional.com
