British Airways' passengers flying out of Edinburgh until the 24 July can make the use of a experimental check-in service being evaluated by the airline.
If you have luggage and have a confirmed seat to Gatwick, Heathrow or London City the next day, or making connections at those airports, you can bring in your luggage between 18:00 and 20:00 the evening before and drop it off, saving the hassle in the morning. This is particularly convenient if you are staying overnight close by the airport, but this cannot be done by a third party and the passenger must be present at the check-in.
This is not a novel system and is used elsewhere including Gatwick by British Airways, easyJet and Thomas Cook Airlines with some restrictions. www.ba.com www.edinburghairport.com
