Edinburgh to Southend

Southend has joined the London airports' connections to Edinburgh.  easyJet has introduced a daily (except Saturday) afternoon return service originating at Southend.  With just initially a single afternoon return flight from Southend the route is aimed at a leisure audience, although it will appeal to business people who can plan their itinerary to fit the schedule.

Southend is ideal for East London and South Essex with a direct rail service from Liverpool Street with stops at Stratford and a further seven stations en-route.  Average journey time is just over 50 minutes and the platform is two minutes from the airport security.

The new Edinburgh route is an important step forward for easyJet as it expands its Southend operation.  With the introduction of services to Berlin, Krakow and Newquay in June it will serve nine destinations this summer and has a target of one million passengers for the full year.  Four Airbus A319 aircraft are now based at the airport.

On a normal weekday, according to OAG data, there are no less than 75 daily flights in each direction between the six London airports and the Scottish capital. www.easyjet.com www.southendairport.com
