Hermitage St Petersburg hotel

St Petersburg, which now likes to call itself Russia’s cultural capital, is to have a new 5-star hotel with a unique concept: The State Hermitage Hotel is scheduled to open in summer 2013 and will be the only official hotel of the State Hermitage Museum.  The hotel is located on Pravda Street in the centre of St Petersburg and about a 30-minute walk through some of the most interesting parts of a city with a rich heritage.

The unique hotel concept was created by bringing together the Hermitage Museum and a refreshing yet classic landmark building originally built as a residence for the Lobov family, a local merchant.  Later on it was turned into a cultural centre with a theatre and had been for quite some time the place for culture and performing arts, where singers such as Vladimir Vysotskiy regularly performed.  It is now carefully restored with an impressive lobby which is set to once again become the focus of social and cultural life of the city.

The Official State Hermitage Hotel offers 126 rooms and suites, each decorated in a unique style – with hardwood floors, soft lighting and materials with elegant colour scheme which are all inspired by the interior of the State Hermitage Museum. www.thehermitagehotel.ru
