The Latvian state airline Air Baltic is to become the first low-cost carrier to introduce a pre-ordered food service. From May it will introduce an online meal ordering system. All passengers will be able to select exactly what they would like on their meal tray. The airline offers Business Class for seats at the front of the aircraft with the centre one of a three left empty.
To introduce the scheme Air Baltic is offering 20 meal options and four dietary meal alternatives, Gluten Free, Lactose Free, Vegetarian and Kosher. The menus are in Latvian and English and are priced from €9 for a breakfast or light meal, to €15 for a full range of three-course hot and cold offering including a glass of wine. There is a children’s meal available at €10.
Customers must pre-order their meals no later than 24 hours prior to departure. If you have not confirmed your requirement the standby is currently lasagne which can be booked up to 40 minutes before departure, but only for the time being at Riga.
Passengers can purchase on board a selection of snacks, hot meals, beverages and Sky Shop items including local souvenirs, perfumes and toys. www.airbaltic.com
