SWISS expansion

Part of the Lufthansa Group and a member of Star Alliance, SWISS is in an expansion mood.

Swiss International Air Lines is increasing its services and seat capacity to Asia and North America in its 2013 summer schedules.  In mid-May Zurich to Singapore is introduced (the airline’s eighth Asian destination) whilst there are capacity increases in the non-stop services from Switzerland’s largest city to both Beijing and Newark New York.

From Geneva SWISS will offer a total of 15 destinations in its 2013 summer schedules in response to seasonal demand.  The two new destinations of Olbia and Catania will be added to the Geneva-based network from May onwards, each receiving twice-weekly services.  Frequencies will also be increased from May on the Geneva – Malaga route (to four weekly services) and the Geneva – Palma (to five weekly flights).  Porto is twice weekly through the summer.

For the winter season Kiev is added from Zurich.  The Ukrainian capital will receive daily service from Zurich flown by a two-class Airbus A320 seating 152 passengers.  After Russia, Ukraine is the second-biggest export market for Switzerland among the CIS states.  Kiev joins Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, Belgrade, Bucharest, Moscow and St Petersburg to become the eighth destination for SWISS in Eastern Europe. www.swiss.com
