The rush to secure delivery positions for new aircraft continues unabated (see also Lion Air and Ryanair).
Turkish Airlines, a Star Alliance member, announced last week an order for 117 Airbus aircraft made up of 25 A321, four A320neo, 53 A321neo and options for 35 additional A321.
By the end of the year the Turkish Airlines fleet will reach 235 aircraft. Besides the Airbus A320 series it is still a substantial Boeing 737 operator and uses both the Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 for long haul.
When deliveries are completed in 2020 Turkish Airlines will have a total of 375 aircraft in its fleet including cargo aircraft. The average age would have been reduced from the current 6.6 years to just five. www.turkishairlines.com
