London City for Alitalia

Alitalia is to expand operations at London City Airport, adding extra frequencies to Milan’s Linate city centre airport and launch a new route to Rome Fiumicino.

The carrier will move from 11 flights per week on the LCY – Milan Linate route to 18 from 31 March.

From 1 April Rome will be introduced with a single daily flight (except Sunday), to Leonardo da Vinci, better known as Fiumicino Airport and the Italian capital’s main international gateway.

The service will be operated by two-class Embraer E190 aircraft, under Alitalia’s Cityliner brand.

There is plenty of competition on the Rome route with Fiumicino served from Heathrow by Alitialia and BA, easyjet and BA from Gatwick, Monarch from Luton, whilst Ryanair flies between Stansted and the old Rome Ciampino airport. www.alitalia.com www.londoncityairport.com
