Based on the short lived Varsity Airways performance and forward bookings (see BTN 10 March 2010) the introduction today by Minoan Airways of services from Oxford Airport to Edinburgh and Dublin should be a success.
Both routes are twice daily in a bid to capture the quick there-and-back market, with Edinburgh scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and Dublin (from 6 March) on Wednesday and Friday. There are single return flights on Sundays.
Minoan Air, new to the UK, was established in Greece in 2011. It currently operates four Fokker 50 on Greek Island routes and also plans to introduce services from Lugano to both Rome (Fiumicino) and Vienna at the end of March.
The Manx 2 services from Oxford Airport to both Jersey and the Isle of Man were suspended on 7 January. www.minoanair.com
