Emirates’ President Tim Clark (left) and Qantas CEO Alan Joyce
Passengers in either direction on both airlines will be able to seamlessly change aircraft in the world’s first purpose-built A380 terminal. Qantas becomes the only other carrier to use the massive Emirates Concourse, with its three main passenger floors (Duty Free, First and Business Class) and an airside hotel on top.
At the start of the summer programme (Sunday 31 March) Qantas will offer 14 daily EK/QF Boeing 777 and A380 flights from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney to Dubai, with its 24-hour hub. This, in effect, means just one stop to 33 European destinations, seven of them serviced all the way by A380s, including Paris and Rome as well as London. Dubai also becomes the gateway to and from Africa for Qantas.
Regarding oneworld, Tim Clark, Emirates President, had this to say: “The world of alliance is changing. We will see major realignments in the next three to five years since they are not delivering the value that certain carriers thought they were going to get”. www.emirates.com www.qantas.com
