Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has today (4 February) launched a 1hr 40mins non-stop week daily flight from Newcastle to Copenhagen. A Sunday service will be added for the summer season. A two-class 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 is used for the service. With evening departures at each end it will give a full working day at both centres.
Hans Dyhrfort, SAS Regional General Manager Western Europe, commented: “With more than three million people living within reach of the airport, Newcastle is an important northern hub and area of development for SAS. We are pleased to offer passengers the choice and flexibility to fly direct from Newcastle to Copenhagen or onwards to many other destinations in Scandinavia and Northern Europe”.
Copenhagen is a major hub for SAS and is increasingly seen as the starting point for cruising to Oslo, coastal Norway and Arctic Circle, as well as the Baltic Sea and St Petersburg. www.flysas.com
