Stratford Olympic Tour

The Olympic Legacy Organisation has brought forward plans to open the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and tickets have now gone on sale for dates between 29 March and 6 May.  From the top you can see the major changes to park with the north area due to open to the public in July and the whole vista in spring 2014.  A free bus tour can be booked in advance (0800 023 2030).

An alternative, and less expensive, viewpoint can be found at the View Tube close by Pudding Lane DLR station.  There is a café and The Greenway, a public track for cycling and walking, runs by.

Currently the stadium itself is in a state of limbo long term but the other major Olympic venues are being transformed, the rest gone for ever.

The highly successful Velodrome is hardly being changed at all and the BMX track will become an off-road cycle area.  The Aquatic Centre is losing its spectator wings and once we get used to the new, and much smaller, public (and competition) pool, it will blend in very nicely with the cycling arena.  The Copper Box stays as a multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue and will host the London Lions basketball team. www.theviewtube.co.uk  http://noordinarypark.co.uk
