Transcontinental US passengers will for the first time gain the benefits that long haul flyers have been seeing for a number of years when Delta introduces full flat-bed seats in the BusinessElite cabin of all flights between New York and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle beginning in March 2013.
All of Delta's Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft serving these transcontinental markets will offer the flat-bed seats over approximately the following 24 months. The first 767 will begin flying in March of 2013, between New York-JFK and Los Angeles. This flight will be timed to provide seamless connections for passengers travelling from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
This month, Delta will also launch full flat-bed seats on services between Stuttgart and Atlanta, as well as Moscow and New York-JFK. Both routes are operated with a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 35 BusinessElite seats. The introduction of the flat-bed seats on to these routes means that 11 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa will now feature the new product.
Delta has completed installation of the upgrade on its Boeing 777, 747-400 and 767-400ER aircraft fleets. The 767 programme is expected to be finished by the middle of 2014. www.delta.com
