The weirdly named British Airways subsidiary OpenSkies is to become an affiliate member of the oneworld alliance from 1 December.
OpenSkies currently links Paris with the New York New Jersey metro area with two daily round trips between Orly and Newark increasing to three from next March. It is the only carrier operating between the alternative airport pair to Charles de Gaulle and Kennedy.
Orly is the closest airport to Paris city centre and with the widest choice of connections within France.
All OpenSkies services are operated by Boeing 757s in a three-class configuration similar to those offered on British Airways' own mainline flights:
The ‘Biz Bed’ cabin features 20 seats that convert to fully flat-beds à la Club World. ‘Prem Plus’ is an upmarket premium economy, with 28 leather seats in a 2+2 configuration, reclining 130%, whilst Eco is 3+3. All passengers are offered a personal iPad with more than 70 hours of movies, TV shows and games.
Its flight attendants wear the usual British Airways uniform, and the aircraft are painted in a livery similar to the regular British Airways design, but with the OpenSkies logo along their fuselages. www.flyopenskies.com
