Melia has confirmed that it will launch its flagship London hotel in December. Situated at the junction of The Strand and Aldwych, the former Marconi House was the original home of the BBC.
The ME by Melia London is Foster + Partners’ first UK hotel project and the first for which they have designed all of the interiors and exteriors. The deluxe property will offer 157 rooms, including 16 suites, and ultra-luxurious Suite ME plus, a two-floor penthouse in the turret of the building.
Melia has not thrown away the great historical interest in the building with the lobby lounge named after radio’s inventor Guglielmo Marconi and on the 10th floor ‘Radio’ a rooftop terrace, lounge and bar, open from breakfast until late, and boasting 180-degree panoramic views of London.
The hotel will also offer flexible spaces, with catering from 10 up to 300 guests. Melia is already established in London with The White House, situated opposite Great Portland Street Underground station and close by Regents Park. www.melia.com
